This chapter explains the main components that form the Cisco Unified Communications (UC) solution as deployed on a converged IP network in enterprise networks. The intent of this chapter is to describe the most commonly deployed scenarios for Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) in enterprise networks to build a foundation for voice-specific network management and optimization topics in the later chapters.
