The United Nations Volunteers issued a report in late December 2011, describing the state of global volunteerism. In the report, United Nations Volunteers highlighted three of the fastest growing trends in volunteering around the world: corporate volunteer engagement, travel-related volunteering (or “voluntourism”), and the less well-known practice of microvolunteering.1
