The bully set my reputation before I even had a chance to.
Max was a never-quit guy.
Part of that determination came from a maternal grandfather who worked the graveyard shift at a Texaco plant and cut grass all day in the southeastern Texas heat—to support his wife and his eight children. Six-year-old Max helped him cut that grass.
