Where Did Server-Side Technologies Come From?
ASP is a good solution for server-side development for a number of reasons. ASP has been around for a while, is used widely throughout the wired Web, and is constant and stable. ASP enables developers to easily tweak other file types (such as WML or HTML files) so that it’s recognized as an Active Server Page and capable of performing from a remote server.
You’ll learn about all this later in this chapter. However, before jumping in head first with ASP, let’s take a look at where all this ASP stuff came from in the first place. To do that, let’s turn our attention to WAP’s big brother— the Web.
