CHAPTER 5The Four Crucial Lessons We Didn't Learn in School

In my work with thousands of entrepreneurs, many of whom are millionaires and even billionaires—and who have accomplished many of the things that I know you too are able to accomplish—I have noticed they share four common denominators around beliefs they hold and lessons they've learned.

But these four crucial lessons are never talked about in school. Instead, we're taught geography that we can find on Google Maps. We're taught about algebra and calculus that the vast majority of people will never use again—since the majority of people are not going to become engineers, scientists, or mathematicians. We're taught dates of ancient wars that have nothing to do with us, which we could look up on Wikipedia if we really cared.

In this chapter, we're going to learn these four lessons missing from what is taught in schools. These lessons apply to every single aspect of your life, not just in business or wealth building. They also apply to relationships, being an employee, and just being human in general. Learning these things earlier will keep us from making a lot of mistakes in life. Most of the time people have to go through difficult life experiences to learn these lessons. So if we can understand them and conceptualize them now, as opposed to waiting for the hard knocks of life to learn them later, all the better.
