8. Web 2.0 Security and Performance
The Web 2.0 world opens up a variety of new security and performance concerns for IT organizations. On the security side, moving business logic to the browser and exposing data via client-side services should give any IT manager pause. This exposure can be managed, and tradeoffs have to be examined to understand what gains there are to be had from adopting more of a client-based platform.
On the performance side, adopting a Web 2.0 approach and using much of the technology can help reduce many of the performance problems that plague current server-side applications.
