Interacting with Geographic Maps
This chapter covers the two ways people interact with maps: viewing them and acting on them. As a designer, you have to collect requirements for both types of interaction.
Viewing Maps
Besides geography, maps generally show three other types of information—keys to the elements on the map, background information, and thematic (statistical) information. Also, you have to be able to show errors in such a way that it’s clear that something is wrong with the data, but without preventing people from using the map.
