Related Standards Bodies and Organizations

There are a number of bodies and standards organizations that provide direction in the certification of information systems and Web-related systems in particular. Some of the important entities in this arena are discussed in the following sections.

Jericho Forum

The Jericho Forum is an international IT security association whose mission is the support of secure business in a global open-network environment. It is dedicated to the advancement of secure collaboration in appropriate business configurations. In order to achieve these goals, the Forum is promoting standards that address the layers of business services desired, such as infrastructure, platform, and software processes.

The Distributed Management Task Force

The Distributed Management Task Force (DMTF, www.dmtf.org) is an international organization comprising industry members that is dedicated to the development, adoption, and promotion of management standards that support multi-vendor interoperability.

A major DMTF initiative that is relevant to Web commerce is the DMTF Open Virtualization Format (OVF).
