Closing that loop and promoting yourself is that essential last step that turns your blog from a collection of great writing to a real Internet marketing tool.

Publishing is really more like "pushing." When you publish, your blog alerts many other blogs and Web sites about the new post. So, publishing a new post affects more than your own blog. It potentially alerts many, many other Web sites, as well as everyone who subscribes to your blog's RSS feed.
