8.3. Attribute-Based Certificates
As we discussed earlier, certificates are documents that authenticate the identity of an entity. In addition, a certificate can also contain several additional pieces of information. E-Speak provides two types of certificates:
Attribute-based or authorization certificates
Name-based certificates
Authorization certificates bind a tag to a public key or a name. Name-based certificates bind a name to a public key or a name. In this example, we discuss and use authorization certificates. Both these certificates consist of some common fields, such as service identification, issuer, and subject. Table 8.3 summarizes the typical certificate fields and their purpose.
