Creating a Lotus Sametime server
This section explains the steps to create a new Domino server for use with Sametime. Follow
the wizard instructions to create a new Sametime server with the sample data in Table A-1 on
page 386.
1. Make sure that your user profile has sufficient authorities (see “Authorities” on page 386).
2. Start the Domino Administrator server, which is PORTALDOM1 in our example.
3. If necessary, open iSeries Navigator.
4. As shown in Figure A-30, expand your
iSeries server (where you will add a Sametime
server)
Network Servers. Select Domino. Right-click and select New Domino
Server
.

Note: After you copy the ID file to the iSeries IFS, the ownership for this IFS object
changes from the QNOTES user profile to the user profile that you were using when
you stored the modified file on the iSeries IFS. Therefore, you must change the
ownership back to QNOTES before you can start the server.
Note: If Domino is not shown, add the plug-in for Domino and it will become available
after you install Lotus Domino on your workstation.

7. The next page (Figure A-33) asks whether this is the first Domino server (in a new Domino
domain) or an additional Domino server in the existing Domino domain. In our example,
we already have a Domino server, so we select
Additional Domino Server and click >>.

8. The next page (Figure A-34) displays the settings for the new Domino server. Set the
following parameters:
a. In the Web Browsers field, select
HTTP and IIOP. Sametime requires that you use the
Domino HTTP server. Collaborative portlets and components use IIOP to access and
retrieve information from Domino databases. If IIOP is running, portlets that access
Domino-based databases, include a picker feature that is available to portlet users. The
picker feature displays a list of content from Domino databases from which the portlet
user can select. Although IIOP is not required, it is a useful feature for the portal user.
b. In the field Directory Services, do not specify any options. You will rely on either of the
following options:
The first Domino server (PORTALDOM1), which has LDAP access enabled
OS/400 Directory Server
c. In the field Enterprise Connection Services, deselect
Decs.
d. In the field Advanced Services, select
Partition.
e. Click
>>.

settings:
a. In the Server Name field, specify the name of the Sametime server, which is
PORTALST1
in our example.

c. In the Get Domain Directory from which Server field, specify the name of the first
Domino server, which is
PORTALDOM1 in our example.
d. Select the Local Time Zone accordingly.
