13.5. XML and Web browsers: XSL and CSS

One common use of XML documents is displaying them in a Web browser. XML does not specify how the document should be displayed. Some browsers just display whatever PCDATA they find between tags. Try browsing cdlist2.xml. There is no difference between browsing cdlist1.xml and cdlist2.xml since the only difference is that one includes a DTD. If the Web browser does not understand XML it might offer to save the file to disk (Navigator 4.7). Opera 4.01 and Netscape 6 (preview release 2) will just display all the PCDATA in the elements as shown in Figure 409 on page 552.
