You Are What You Have Faith In
In July 2015, archaeologists discovered what are believed to be the oldest writings in the ancient city of Göbekli Tepe, in southeast Turkey. Göbekli Tepe is believed to contain the world’s first temple, complete with a 12,000-year-old pictograph depicting a Buddhist funeral practice of sky burial, where a deceased human body is placed on a mountaintop to be eaten by scavenging animals. A majority of humankind’s early pictographs and hieroglyphics similarly depict images related to faith and spirituality as the primary focus.
