When an organization decides to deploy a strategic initiative, whether the approach is called Business Process Management (BPM) or something else, it must stay focused on the primary objective: making improvements in organizational performance and sustaining those gains. To ensure the initiative’s success, the organization’s executive team must design the initiative to take into account its people, history, and culture. The key characteristic of the approach is that it must be systematic. Everyone in the organization must know and understand what is going to happen.
