WE ARE ALL navigating the realities of our life situations. You do have to work, and I want you to live with your light on, but how do you do that if you’re unhappy in your job, or feel like you’re short changing your career?

If you feel like you’re not getting an equitable trade for your paycheck, you could turn resentful, and that can affect not only your work but your health, your family, and your life. You could also impact everyone else you work with. Don’t think you’re fooling anyone; people can see it. I see it often with clients who come to me feeling stuck, asking me to help them get “unstuck.”

If you’re lucky enough, you may have “fallen into a great career” by accident, or a great job just “fell into your lap.” Most likely the reality is that it didn’t just fall into your lap, but you were open to the opportunity when it presented itself to you. The fact is opportunities only fall into your lap when you are open to seeing them. If you’re walking through life with blinders on, you might not even recognize the opportunity in front of you.

As I mentioned earlier, I “fell” into recruiting at a young age because I was so open. My first job out of college was as a television reporter.
