12Design a Framework for Success

“The best preparation for tomorrow is doing your best today.”

—H. Jackson Brown, Jr.

This point on your career journey seems like a perfect moment to share a few exercises that we use when coaching clients to build strength and resilience and set the stage for success as you go for your goals. Setting clear intentions is the foundation for any future planning. So as a first step, as always, I invite you to pause, breathe deeply, and then write out what you want the coming day, month, quarter, and year to look and feel like.

You know how it works by now. You’ve been doing the work. You understand the importance of continuous learning and creating a vision for your future.

Write out your goals, mission, and vision for your work at your new company or organization. Don’t stop to second-guess yourself. Only you will see this list. But by getting it out of your subconscious and onto the page, you will have organically begun the intention-setting process.

You know you’re headed in the right direction when you are intentional about your career and your future and make decisions based on truly knowing yourself. As you now know, when you can articulate what you bring to the table and what you want, you can chart the course to where you want to go with greater clarity and conviction. Life is a journey and when you follow your heart toward what it is that truly lights you up, you cannot go wrong.
