Chapter TwoWhat's Wrong with People

“What the hell is wrong with people?” I have pondered this question for years. I used to just think people were idiots. In fact, I wrote a New York Times bestseller called People Are Idiots and I Can Prove It. That was the easiest book I have written. The evidence is everywhere for just how idiotic the average person's behavior has become.

So what is wrong with people? Let me count the ways.

People make lousy decisions.

Our decisions create our reality. Rarely does stuff just happen to us. Things happen to us because we made a decision that put a chain reaction in place that resulted in what we ended up with.

If you choose to spend more money than you have, you end up broke.

If you choose to smoke cigarettes and not take care of yourself, you end up dead.

If you choose to treat your spouse like crap, you end up divorced.

If you choose to show up late to work and be a slacker, you end up unemployed.

If you choose to treat customers poorly, you end up with no customers and go out of business.

From Today's News

As I am typing this, I am watching the morning news. I see a story about a person standing in a lagoon in Florida with the result being he was eaten by an alligator. How could this possibly happen? No signage!!! Obviously, signage is the problem! By blaming the lack of signage, it makes being eaten by an alligator in a Florida swamp someone else's responsibility.

Next is a story about Arizona considering enacting a Stupid Hiker Law. ...
