The data-services tier in a Windows DNA n-tier application can consist of data residing in several different kinds of stores. The two most prominent products that provide data services in BackOffice are Microsoft SQL Server databases and Microsoft Exchange Server directories and information stores. The following discussion briefly introduces the structural differences between them and how they are accessed.
