21.2. The Event Log

The event log centrally records error, warning, and information messages from the operating system, the security system, and applications. When you are developing your own software, you will want to use the event log to record certain types of error and warning information.
You do not need to throw all application errors into the event log. For example, if the user enters an invalid file name, you should display the appropriate error message to the user.
