Global Potential for Wind-Generated Electricity

Abstract

A record of wind fields inferred from reanalysis of past meteorological data is used to assess the potential source of electricity that could be realized by tapping this global wind resource. It is concluded that the source would be more than sufficient to satisfy current and potentially future demands for global electricity, potentially for energy in all forms.
