Most medium- and large-sized businesses compete in a global economy, which puts extra demands on their IT infrasructures. Employees speak different languages in this new world order. Businesses sell goods and services to customers all over the planet. Executives travel to international offices whose local language is not their native tongue, and yet they must still use the offices' computers. Earlier versions of Microsoft Windows failed miserably to keep pace with the shift from national economies to a single global economy; they supported multiple language scenarios poorly. Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional supports the new world order, however, by introducing many new, long-awaited language features.
