Understanding Migration Stores

A migration store is a database of user files and settings. It doesn’t include any applications, but it does include the settings for the applications. For example, if the same version of Microsoft Word is installed on the original computer and the new computer, the configurable settings for Microsoft Word will be transferred over. However, if Word is not installed on the new computer, migrating the store will not install it.
