If you’re among the billion-or-so souls on the planet who have been around the block with Windows 7, Vista, or Windows XP, you’re in for a shock.
In fact, if you know your way around the Windows desktop, I can almost guarantee that you’re going to hate Windows 8 the first time you see it.
And the second, third, and fourth times.
Hang in there, though. It gets better — especially if you take advantage of the tricks in Book VI, Chapter 3, which let you impose some sort of retro sanity on the tiled Start screen — the side of Windows formerly known as “Metro.”
