Ad Hoc Networks and Meetings
Earlier in the chapter, we discussed joining a wireless infrastructure network where devices rely on a base station called an access point or a wireless router.
Computers, laptops, and tablets can also communicate with each other directly, without an access point or router. This is called an ad hoc wireless network. You might use an ad hoc network so that you can share files with another person in a meeting without requiring any additional hardware. Another common use for an ad hoc network is to let one computer share a direct Internet connection with other devices.
