Tweaking the Taskbar
The taskbar is so convenient and such an elegantly simple idea that it might be worth the price of Windows 98 admission all by itself. Sure, if I'm switching constantly back and forth between a couple of applications, nothing's faster than a quick slam of the Alt+Tab “cool switch.” But when it comes to navigating several open programs, or just knowing what's up and running, the taskbar can't be beat.
That's not to say it's perfect, however. For example, if you have too many windows open, the taskbar buttons become too small, and you can't make out the window titles; and folks with small screens or video cards that have limited resolution might resent giving up a strip of screen real estate.
