SQL Server 2008
Windows EBS Premium includes Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Standard Edition (henceforth referred to in this chapter as SQL Server 2008). SQL Server 2008 is a set of components based around a relational database that work together to meet the data storage and analysis needs of some of the largest Web sites and enterprise data-processing systems. SQL Server 2008 works equally well for meeting the day-to-day business needs of the small to medium-size business.
In this chapter we can’t tell you everything you might need to know about SQL Server—whole books have been written on the subject, and even many of them have to specialize. However, we can give you an overview of the features and a brief introduction to installing SQL Server.
