The Windows Diagnostic Infrastructure (WDI) helps to detect, diagnose, and resolve common problem scenarios with minimal user intervention. Windows components implement triggers that cause WDI to launch scenario-specific troubleshooting modules to detect the occurrence of a problem scenario. A trigger can indicate that the system is approaching or has reached a problematic state. Once a troubleshooting module has identified a root cause, it can invoke a problem resolver to address it. A resolution may be as simple as changing a registry setting or interacting with the user to perform recovery steps or configuration changes.
