The Structure of ADSI and Its WMI Mapping
If you have been exploring the WMI world with the Object Browser tool, you may be somewhat surprised to learn that the Active Directory is mapped into WMI; after all, so far, you are unlikely to have met any objects there that look as though they represent anything in the Active Directory. The reason for this is that ADSI-mapped objects do not live in the root\cimv2 namespace; they are not part of the CIMv2 schema or Microsoft’s extensions to it. Instead, all ADSI-mapped objects live in namespaces under root\directory; Active Directory objects live in a root\ directory\LDAP namespace.
