Inside the Repository
Throughout this book we have referred time and time again to a rather ethereal concept known as the Repository. Within this central hub of WMI reside namespaces, classes, and objects, all ready to be retrieved at the whim of a script. This section discusses the Repository in more concrete terms.
In reality, the repository is just a database. It is a file with a .REP extension that normally resides in the %SYSTEMROOT%\System32\ WBEM\Repository directory on a Windows 2000 machine. Delete this file and there is no more Repository; WMI effectively ceases to exist on the machine.
