I first got acquainted with Windows Media 9 Series at NAB (National Association of Broadcasters) 2002, in Las Vegas. At the Microsoft booth I saw what looked like a high-definition music video playing on a big plasma screen. Such presentations are common at NAB, but this was Microsoft—not yet a HD superpower.
