The latest version of the Citrix XenDesktop solution is a complete re-architecture of the product. It is no longer based on the standard Integrated Multi-system Architecture (IMA) that has powered the XenApp product for many years. This redesign is touted as being able to scale to much larger enterprise environments than the preceding versions. Another important factor in the redesign is that the management architecture is based completely on Windows PowerShell. Windows PowerShell serves as the backbone for everything you do in the Desktop Studio, the GUI-based configuration utility. And, with a little research, you can effectively manage your XenDesktop environment without even touching the GUI.
