Network Access Protection
Network Access Protection (NAP) is a platform for enforcing system health requirements on hosts before they are allowed to access network resources. NAP can ensure that the system complies with a particular update level and configuration requirements such as firewall state. NAP can also ensure that certain software, such as antimalware, is installed and up to date.
Windows Server 2008 includes the server components required for NAP. It can also be a NAP client, as can Windows Vista, Windows XP, and Windows Server 2003—although the latter two require updates from Microsoft that are due to be released in 2008.
