Chapter 27. Network Device Enrollment Service
Network Device Enrollment Service (NDES) implements the Simple Certificate Enrollment Protocol (SCEP) for Cisco devices and other devices that are SCEP compliant. Windows Server 2008 implements NDES as one of the Active Directory Certificate Services role services.
The service is implemented as an Internet Server Application Programming Interface (ISAPI) that requires the installation of Internet Information Services (IIS) on the same server. To protect the service, NDES runs in its own application pool named SCEP.
