Configuring the WDS Server

After the WDS role is installed, the initial boot and installation image can be added. Locate the Windows Server 2012 installation media because the boot image from this media can and will be used to deploy Windows Vista SP1, Windows 7, and Windows 8 64-bit edition images. If x86 images will be deployed, you can use the Windows 8 x86 boot image, which can be used to deploy both x86 and x64 install images. For the remainder of this chapter, the tasks will be associated with a WDS server that is part of an Active Directory domain with DHCP services running on a separate Windows Server 2012 server.
