Even the most ardent Hyper-V fan has to give VMware a lot of credit. Machine virtualization was driven by VMware, and they have forced Microsoft to create an excellent virtualization solution in Windows Server 2012 Hyper-V. The credible and competitive Windows Server 2012 Hyper-V also forced VMware to reverse an unpopular licensing change and to introduce previously unannounced features in vSphere 5.1.
Migrating from VMware
It is possible to convert VMware virtual machines into virtual machines that you can run on Windows Server 2012 Hyper-V. This is known as virtual-to-virtual (V2V) conversion. There are several ways to accomplish this:
