Microsoft Assessment and Planning Toolkit
Microsoft released and has continued to improve the Microsoft Assessment and Planning Toolkit (MAP) to help engineers and consultants get off to a good start with their deployment projects. MAP (http://technet.microsoft.com/library/bb977556.aspx) is a free tool that is used to scan and assess an existing environment. In the context of planning a Hyper-V project, it will do the following:
- Discover physical and virtual machines (including Hyper-V, vSphere, and ESXi)
- Use this data to identify the machines that could possibly be converted into Hyper-V virtual machines (candidates)
