Introducing Scale-Out File Servers

Scale-Out File Servers (SOFS) represent a big step beyond the traditional file server we have come to know and love in previous versions of the Windows operating system. In fact, in Windows Server 2012, the File Server role is in vogue again. SOFS provide continuously available file services, which means that system administrators can easily extend the number of SOFS to respond to the increased demands being placed upon them by simply bringing additional file servers online.
