BitLocker
BitLocker Drive Encryption is a data-protection feature of the Windows operating system that was first introduced in the Windows Server 2008 time frame. Subsequent operating system releases from Microsoft have continued to expand and improve not only the security but the functionality offered by BitLocker, allowing the operating system to provide BitLocker protection in various scenarios to more drives and devices.
BitLocker addresses the threat of data theft or exposure from lost, stolen, or inappropriately decommissioned disks. With Windows Server 2012, BitLocker has increased in functionality and now provides support for Cluster Shared Volumes. There are two methods for using BitLocker in a Windows failover cluster:
