Relocating Personal Data Folders

Although the organizational scheme that Windows Vista has adopted for your personal data folders—the 11 visible subfolders of %UserProfile% (see Figure 10-2 earlier in this chapter)—is much more rational than its predecessor in Windows XP, some users will want to relocate some or all of these folders. One reason is to make more efficient use of hard disk space, especially on desktop PCs with multiple hard drives. The second, even more compelling reason is to simplify the backup and restore process.
