To change the number of recently opened programs displayed on the Start menu
Right-click the Start button, and then click Properties.
On the Start Menu tab of the Taskbar and Start Menu Properties dialog box, with the Start menu option selected, click Customize.
In the Start menu size area of the Customize Start Menu dialog box, type or select the number of programs you want displayed, and then click OK.
In the Taskbar and Start Menu Properties dialog box, click OK.
To start a program from the Start menu
On the Start menu, click All Programs.
In the All Programs list, click a program name, or click a folder containing a program you want to open, and then click the program name.
