It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

In case you have been living in a cave and have not heard of TiVo or DVR yet, here is a 30-second version. TiVo and DVRs allow you to record your favorite TV shows or movies to watch later. Big deal, VCRs can do the same thing, right? Well, not exactly. See, TiVo and DVR boxes are able to sit in between your television and the content provider (cable or satellite) box.
