Manufacturers typically preinstall the software that you see on mobile devices before the devices leave the factory. But it will become less and less feasible for manufacturers to preinstall all this software in the factory. Devices won't have enough memory resources to store the increasing number and variety of applications that users will demand. Furthermore, the preinstalled applications can never satisfy the requirements of all users. Therefore, users need the ability to initiate the installation of software on their mobile devices as they do with personal computers.
