Navigating a Document

If you have a long document with headings or you’re searching for keywords, you can use the Navigation pane to find your way around it. In the Navigation pane, you can view thumbnails for all pages, search for key phrases, quickly move between headings, promote or demote headings, insert new headings, browse headings from a co-author, rearrange heading content, and collapse/ expand heading levels of an outline. You can perform any of these tasks in the Navigation panel by using the following tabs: Headings, Pages, and Results.

Click the View tab.

Click the Navigation Pane check box.
