Scheduling, Attendance, and Leave—Categories and Configurations
IN THIS CHAPTER, THE NECESSARY COMPONENTS of creating and configuring advantageous work schedules in workforce management (WFM) systems are identified. The chapter begins by defining the different types of employees and the different levels of employee capability; determining which employees are available and in what capacity are critical to making efficient, appropriate schedules. Attendance system setup requires extensive discovery and careful adjustment to stay within legal lines as well as achieve the organization's scheduling objectives. Beyond basic labeling and assigning, intelligent WFM systems and leave management packages can help to manage and even forecast absences. Proactive configuration produces more predictable, visible schedules and more reliable, consistent enforcement.
