In 2017, I received a message from a Kronite whom I’ll call Ernie. A 25-year veteran of the company, Ernie had left about a year earlier to take a position at a global IT services firm. This firm had advertised Ernie’s new job as a management role, but when he arrived, he was disappointed to find that it was actually a fairly junior consulting position that came with no management responsibilities.
