3.1. Seven Subprinciples of Infrastructure

To gain some ground in maintaining and operating an efficient IT infrastructure, there are seven subprinciples that can be followed, shown in Figure 3.1.

3.1.1. Subprinciple 1. Create an Infrastructure Roadmap

Just as in the previous "people" discussion a skills inventory was the first step toward establishing performance excellence with people, so creating an infrastructure roadmap is the first, critical step for infrastructure. You need to know the starting point, from which you can launch improvements.
