This chapter details the three specific file types that are located on the Xbox 360. Each of these files is labeled as such because their header specifies the information that is provided within the file. The first is type of file provides console-specific information and incorporates the console security certificate that is located in physical sector 4 of the hard drive. Next is the PIRS file type, which is digitally signed by Microsoft and contains information that is pushed or pulled to the console through other means than the Xbox Live service.
