Taxonomical Structure
It can be tricky to represent hierarchical information such as taxonomies and their interrelationships to documents using XML. For example, if you have a large corpus of documents, you may want to be able to classify them using hierarchical taxonomies. A taxonomy is defined as a division of items (or nodes) into ordered groups or categories. For example, the taxonomy of geographical regions (usually) starts with the Earth and works its way down to things like East Flatbush. A snapshot of your region's taxonomy might look something like the diagram in Figure 10-2.
