XSLT DTD

An XSLT stylesheet document is identified by the namespace 'http://www.w3.org/XSL/Transform/1.0'. This format is defined by a DTD in an appendix to the standard. The DTD describes the 35 elements, and their attributes, that constitute the XSLT language. Most of these elements are used only to support complex requirements, and it is typically possible to build a useful stylesheet using just three of them (see Chapter 33 for the full list).

Note that, for the sake of clarity, examples in this chapter generally use the default namespace. In the standard itself, the prefix 'xsl:' is used in the examples, but this is simply a matter of preference.
