Tables
The table extensions in CSS2 should be of particular interest to XML users wishing to render the content of arbitrary XML elements in a tabular grid. Chapter 25 includes a brief discussion on the use of CSS to apply table styles to arbitrary XML elements, but the model is more powerful than the simple mapping to the table, the row and the cell elements shown there. As the properties described here have been developed to match the capabilities of the HTML 4.0 table model, readers unfamiliar with this model are advised to read the relevant descriptions in Chapter 25 before continuing.
